Housing Growth in the North & What the LGA Housing Commission Report means for us
09.30am - 03.45pm
We would like to invite you to the LGAs northern housing event, hosted by Wakefield Council to discuss Housing Growth in the North & What the LGA Housing Commission Report means for us
When? Tuesday 16th May 9.30-15.45
Where? Unity Works, Wakefield, WF1 1EP
Local Government shares the collective national ambition to build one million new homes by the end of this Parliament which will only be achieved with strong national and local leadership. Latest house building figures are encouraging, but there is a long way to go.
As leaders in the public sector you play a pivotal role in helping provide strong leadership, collaborative working and longer-term certainty for places and the people that live there.
The LGA Housing Commission was established to help councils deliver their ambition for places, but what does this mean for the North?
Join us and our keynote speaker Lord Kerslake, to discuss the findings of the report with Eamon Lally, LGA Principal Policy Adviser. Dilys Jones, HCA’s Head of Home Ownership and Supply will be speaking about the role the HCA will have in helping us all deliver on this agenda.
Peter Box CBE, Leader of Wakefield Council and Chair of West Yorkshire Combined Authority, will talk about aspirations for housing growth in the North, and the challenges for WYCA as they aim to meet their ambitious target of delivering over 10,000 new homes each year.
Places are running out so book fast!
