Local businesses encouraged to get involved in Wakefield Bounce Back Week

01 June 2021

A week-long event to support businesses in the Wakefield district with their recovery from the coronavirus pandemic is set to take place from Monday 21 June.

Wakefield Bounce Back Week (WBBW) has been developed by the Wakefield Recovery Board and will feature 11 free live webinars consisting of insightful information from industry professionals, entrepreneurs, innovators and business educators.

The week-long event will provide the people and businesses of the district with a calendar of events that will encourage, inspire and educate – with themes including start-up survival and resilience, upskilling and retraining and recovery planning, plus much more.

There will also be an awards ceremony to crown this year’s most innovative, inspirational and community supporting businesses and anyone who has an idea for an event to run in conjunction with WBBW is urged to get in touch.

Cllr Denise Jeffery, Chair of the Wakefield Recovery Board and Leader of Wakefield Council, said: “The economic shock linked to the Covid-19 pandemic continues to affect industries and firms across the Wakefield district and we want to do everything we can to support them in their recovery.

“Bounce Back Week is an opportunity for local businesses to learn, build and develop their skills and network so that they can build back stronger and look forward to a brighter future.”

Martin Hathaway, Chair of the Economic Recovery Group and Managing Director of the Mid Yorkshire Chambers of Commerce, said: “Wakefield Business Week has historically been an annual event and therefore we have adapted the week so that local businesses don’t miss out on the opportunities it provides.

“By highlighting the city's entrepreneurship and growth, WBBW presents an opportunity for everyone to exchange expertise and gain a deeper understanding and insight into key regional business development.

“We want anyone who wants to participate to do so - it's a week driven by local businesses and their needs so please take a look and find out how you can get involved.”
