Making Wakefield businesses COVID-secure

11 June 2021

An expert webinar giving businesses across the district first hand advice on how to create a COVID-19 secure workplace and effectively manage outbreaks has been rescheduled.

The event, organised by Wakefield Council in partnership with Wakefield First, was originally due to be held on Thursday 1 July. Due to unforeseen circumstances, it will now be held from 10am to 11am on Tuesday 6 July.

Speakers at the webinar, which will demonstrate the challenges faced by local businesses during the last 14 months, include:

  • Tony Baugh – Divisional Health & Safety Manager, Next Distribution: How the company paused normal operations and converted government guidance and advice into effective safety controls.
  • Richard Durr – Operations Manager, OE Electrics: The challenges the pandemic has caused staff over the past 12 months and the stringent measures the company has taken to ensure a COVID-secure workplace for all colleagues.
  • Anna Carson – Senior Environmental Health Officer, Wakefield Council: Anna will discuss the ways you can better manage cases or outbreaks in businesses, as well as highlighting the common issues found when visiting sites with active outbreaks.

Anna Carson said: “We understand that local businesses have faced many uncertainties as a result of the pandemic during the last 14 months. We want to ensure our local businesses are fully-supported and confident when it comes to reopening their doors while maintaining a COVID-secure environment for both employees and customers.

“No matter your business size, whether it be an SME or a multinational corporation, this event will support you in providing a safe and compliant environment. We will also share best practices and top tips for you to take away and implement into your business operations.”
