WAKEFIELD KICKSTART GATEWAY CASE STUDY: NEWPORT LAND AND LAW WAKEFIELD

12 January 2022

Newport Land and Law of Wakefield have been busy working with the Wakefield Kickstart Gateway Team to grow their workforce.

Land and Law Wakefield who are based in the heart of the Nostell estate in Wakefield were first introduced to the Wakefield Kickstart Gateway scheme back in September 2020 looking for recruitment support via Kickstart to support them with communications and administration recruitment support.

The organisation prides themselves on providing high quality private client and conveyancing services. The head office may be headquartered in Wakefield; however, their team of conveyancing solicitors and legal consultants are dotted all around the UK, enabling the team to expand their services nationally.

The team offer niche advice and manage even the most complex legal cases in the following areas: residential conveyancing, commercial property, wills and estates, trusts, probates, powers of attorney and dispute of resolution.

The Wakefield Kickstart Gateway Team worked closely with the organisation and ensured that the recruitment process ran smoothly from start to finish. The process was successful and resulted in the company successfully recruiting not one but two great candidates to fill the Junior Communications Officer role & the Administration Support role.

Ellen Wood, Practice Director reflected on the support the organisation received through Kickstart…

What has been the best bit of your Kickstart journey?

“Our two kickstart recruits have been the best part of the journey - they are a great asset to the team”.

How was the experience & how did it help you shape your growth plans?

“I found the initial part of the process, submitting job descriptions and role information, took much longer than I anticipated. I had hoped we would find someone for each of our roles quite quickly, but that also took much longer. Attending the job fair at the job centre definitely helped us find the right people.

“It has helped us shape our growth plans as we have larger internal resource to support our business”.

Would you recommend the kickstart programme for other businesses looking for recruitment support?

“I would definitely recommend the programme; we have been able to achieve so much more with our two new members of the team”.

Any exciting plans for the future?

“We hope to be able to keep them on past the end of the kickstart programme, with potential plans including apprenticeships or further training and development”.
