New podcast on district’s regeneration launches

16 January 2023

The first podcast to keep you up to date on how we are transforming the district with our regeneration projects is launching this week.

Starting on Thursday (19 January), ‘The Regeneration Show’ will be aired live on Rhubarb Radio at 8pm. You can also catch up in your own time as it will be available on demand afterwards, on the Wakefield First website.

The 30 minute show will be broadcast once a month. Each episode will feature a diverse range of guests, from the public and private sectors, to bring you the latest news, insights and expert opinion about the district’s regeneration projects.

In the first episode you can hear from our Corporate Director for Regeneration and Economic Growth, Mark Lynam. He will be joined by Kevin Trickett, Interim Chair of the Wakefield High Street Task Force and President of the Wakefield Civic Society, along with Knottingley businessman, Jan Lawrence, owner of Skinworx.

You can find out about plans to provide the district with a boost to businesses in the city, Horbury, Ossett, Pontefract, South Elmsall, South Kirkby and Moorthorpe.

Cllr Denise Jeffery, Leader of Wakefield Council, said: “We’re really excited about ‘The Regeneration Show’, taking listeners behind the news and giving them an insight into how the district is being transformed into a culturally vibrant place.

“The Council and our partners have many exciting plans for the district, so I’d encourage everyone to listen to the podcast and find out more.”

You can hear the show live, in several ways. It’s available on the Rhubarb Radio’s website or use their app, that can be downloaded from the Google and Apple store. Alternatively, if you have a smart speaker ask it to ‘play Rhubarb Radio’.
