CoSTAR Live Lab is excited to welcome Florian Block from the University of York and dock10 to speak about AI innovation in virtual production.

He is also R&D Lead for AI and Immersive at dock10, the UK's leading TV production facility. He is responsible for developing dock10’s adoption of emerging creative technologies, with a focus on AI and immersive content production. Working across industry and academia, Florian has directed major R&D initiatives at the intersection of AI, immersive technology and creative practice. He was the Principal Investigator and R&D Director for Weavr, a £7.2m flagship project of the UK Government’s Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund for the Creative Industries. Together with dock10, Florian is currently leading an Innovate UK-funded £1.8m R&D programme that explores the use of computer vision and AI to simulate complex lighting effects in live virtual production. The talk will introduce the problem space of lighting in virtual production and outline the opportunities AI brings in advancing current creative practice. The presentation will conclude with a showcase of the project's latest AI techniques and creative outputs.
The talk will take place on the 6th of March between 14:00-15:00. The talk is open to in-person attendees at Live Lab’s Production Park home, and will also be available as a live online video stream. After the talk, we invite in-person attendees to join us for networking from 3pm-4pm at Production Park’s Centre Stage Cafe. This will be an excellent opportunity to engage with our speakers, fellow attendees and to meet the CoSTAR Live Lab team.
