She's worked and lived in Wakefield for her entire life, so we decided to reach out and find out more about her business, her incredible art work and why she loves the city.

Maker of the Month: Jessica Long

"I am a freelance artist; that paints primarily on glass panes, jars and objects. The method mimics old school animation techniques by painting directly onto frames. The business itself started from a friend wanting a custom picture and it was well received and so more commissions came and it spiralled from there. I became full time self employed, utilising my MA to custom make artwork and the helpful staff on the Start-Up West Yorkshire programme to figure out how to manage the business side."

"I have lived and worked in Wakefield area all my life; whilst not being a artistic industry heavy area of the UK- there is a growing artistic community; creating and working together. This pops out in events like the Light up Festival and art centres like The Art House."

"My favourite projects, at the moment, are the large scale pieces I get to make when I have enough time. Its freeing to work on a large scale when most of my work is within a4 size."

"I'm currently in the middle of convention season, attending many events, all over the UK; Animeleague, ComicCon, Animecon, animemangapop, Leeds tattoo expo, Scifi and fantasy con."
