Tileyard North Celebrate Yorkshire Day

01 Aug 2024

We’re incredibly proud to be based in Yorkshire here at Tileyard North, today reminds us of the creativity in this area and the belonging that comes with being part of this county.

In our home of Wakefield, West Yorkshire, our goal is to create a central hub for the creative community to call home – while also expanding our cultural offering to build a destination thriving for local residents and visitors from further afield.

We spoke to a few members of our community to see why they chose to work in Yorkshire and what it means for them…

“A. it’s a beautiful county and B. people are real. As a Yorkshireman that’s particularly what I love about it. It’s a great place to be – especially with the communication network specifically from Wakefield Westgate straight into London – as we have a lot of work down there. For us, it was always going to be Yorkshire” shared Roger Cutsforth, Co-Founder of Audio Ad Pro.

When looking to move to Tileyard, Roger explained: “I am from Hull originally and had a previous office in Leeds, but had seen Tileyard North being developed and kept an eye on it on social media. We think it’s important for the North to have a creative hub, and couldn’t really see that anywhere else – but this was the place to us”

Our location in this dynamic region – and our site at the historic Rutland Mills – allows us to draw inspiration from our surroundings. Working with our creative neighbours and residents to share what Yorkshire has to offer and why it’s a perfect place to live and do business.

Tileyard North COO, Dan Mottram shared with us:

“The creative sector in Yorkshire is thriving and that is very evident in our community here at Tileyard North. It’s an exciting time to be part of this vibrant community, where innovation and tradition go hand in hand. The region is brimming with talented individuals who are pushing the boundaries of art, media, and technology. The local support for creative endeavours, combined with Yorkshire’s rich cultural heritage, makes it a fantastic place for artists and creators to flourish.

“In Yorkshire, there’s a unique sense of camaraderie and mutual support among businesses and creatives. Building these relationships is about trust, collaboration, and a shared vision for success. By working closely together, we can create a dynamic and resilient business environment that benefits everyone involved.”

While Yorkshire Day is a special occasion, our pride in being part of Yorkshire is something we celebrate every day. It’s in the way we approach our work, the relationships we build, and the community we support – and continue to build. We invite everyone to join us in celebrating what makes this county so extraordinary, a place we think is full of inspiration, resilience, and endless possibilities.
