As of April 2017 if you are an employer you are required by the government to pay an Apprenticeship Levy each month if you;

  • Have an annual pay bill of more than £3 Million
  • Are connected to other companies or charities for employment allowance which in total have an annual bill of more than £3 million on their payroll

The Apprenticeship Levy will be a levy on UK employers to fund new apprenticeships. In England, control of apprenticeship funding will be put in the hands of employers through the Digital Apprenticeship Service. The charge will be at a rate of 0.5% of an employer’s pay bill. Each employer will receive an allowance of £15,000 to offset against their levy payment.
