Sustainability Funding

On 23 May 2019 the Council declared a Climate Emergency and has pledged to become a Carbon Neutral organisation by 2030 and district by 2038.

The UK's current target is to become Carbon Neutral by 2050 but Wakefield Council recognises the value to go both further and faster to respond to the threat of climate change.

To achieve the 2030, target the Council is developing an action plan and roadmap ready for launch in early 2020.

We all play a part in making this happen and we want to support our businesses in the district to various support packages and funding streams around sustainability to secure a better future for Wakefield and its residents and businesses.

• TRAVEL PLAN NETWORK (SUSTAINABLE TRAVEL)

-Supports businesses of all sizes to adopt more sustainable and cost effective travel.

-Discounted travel for staff and business journeys, including the corporate M-Card to reduce public transport costs.

-Specific advice on travel-planning for firms moving within –or to- the region
