Our speakers

Tony Baugh, Divisional Health & Safety Manager at Next

Next Distribution is part of the Next group, a 24/7 operation utilising some of the most advanced warehousing technology in Europe. Next Distribution has 7,000 people supporting over 70 countries, 500 shops and over 6.5 million online customers.

Divisional Health & Safety Manager, Tony, will discuss their approach to managing the business during the public health emergency. This will include how the business paused operations and how it converted government advice and guidance into COVID-safe controls. Tony will also explore how the team worked with the union, Local Authorities, Public Health England and other relevant groups, as well as how they deployed track, trace and testing.

Richard Durr, Operations Manager at OE Electrics

OE Electrics, originally founded in 1986 as Office Electrics, designs and manufactures agile power and charging solutions for commercial spaces all over the world. The company's sales and technical teams boast some of the most experienced and respected individuals in the industry - responding to clients' individually tailored needs with cost-effective, user-friendly, sustainable solutions.

It was impossible for the majority of employees to work from home due to the nature of the business, so the factory remained open throughout the pandemic. Operations Manager, Richard Durr, will discuss the challenges this has brought for staff over the past 12 months and the stringent measures the company has taken to ensure a COVID-secure workplace for all colleagues.

Anna Carson, Senior Environmental Health Officer at Wakefield Council

Anna works for the Council’s Public Health Team and her role is focused on supporting businesses to manage COVID-19 in the workplace. Drawing on her wealth of knowledge about COVID-19 regulations and health and safety best practice in the workplace, Anna will discuss the ways you can better manage cases or outbreaks in your business, as well as highlighting the common issues found when visiting sites with active outbreaks. Anna will outline the importance of refreshing risk assessments as new variants arise and how to effectively manage lateral flow testing in the workplace.

At the end of the event, there’ll be a chance for you to ask the experts any questions around COVID-secure working environments, allowing you to gain a better knowledge and understanding of which you can take away and implement in your business.
