Exclusively for new and young businesses, Start Me Up will provide a day of activities, speakers and networking that will help you take your budding business from zero to hero, from start up to scale up.

Brought to you by AD:VENTURE, this event is 6 hours of action, productive learning and insights you can use to build your business.

Who is it for? This event is ideal for new business owners, founders and entrepreneurs who have an idea and are ready to get started. To attend this event, you need to be trading less than 3 years. You will be trading or planning to trade with other businesses, or expanding your B2B market, and will be based in one of the following areas: Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds, York, Selby, Harrogate or Wakefield.

Good business events can be like gold dust. When they hit the mark, you can be left buzzing with all the things you can add to your business. When they don’t, you could be left feeling pretty miffed you lost valuable time away from your business.

What you won’t do is sit in a large theatre style set up being talked to, without the ability to interact and trapped in your seat (School flashbacks writing this….)

You’ll get inspiration through genuine story telling from our speakers who HAVE been there and HAVE done it. Spread throughout the day to keep you moving and interacting, with relaxed informal seating area in front of the main stage to give you maximum listening opportunities, and to let you mix and make some new business acquaintances!

Now…. that leads us nicely to the networking opportunities.

In our view, networking gets a bad rap, mainly because it’s a bit of a minefield of mixed businesses and when you first start out some networking events can be like jumping in a tank of piranha’s. But they are not all like that.

At this event, it will simply be about connecting you with peers who are quite literally in the same boat. Our strategy is to put you all in a room together, so you can meet each other as people.

This is why we are being incredibly strict about who can attend and asking specific questions when you do book on. Simply put - If you aren’t a new business owner, you aren’t getting in.

We are excited and delighted to be working with the team at the brand new Tileyard North site to give you access to this stunning building set in the refurbished Rutland Mills, right alongside the Hepworth Gallery.

The event will include a fully catered networking lunch and refreshments so you won't need to bring a sarnie!

Easily accessed by public transport, with Wakefield's two train stations offering connections across the region and via a 10 minute hop from Leeds, you can leave your car at home.

Parking will be available for those who need it though - Just nice to have the option.
