Chris Whittam Photography! Capturing the Business Scene in Wakefield & beyond!

12 November 2021

Chris Whittam is a Yorkshire born and bred photographer who has always had a passion for capturing special moments in people’s lives for many years and has recently launched his hobby into a fully-fledged Photography business!

Chris’s background was previously as an Employed Motor Vehicle Technician but with an eye for photography and the fire in his belly Chris finally decided to take the jump by turning his part-time hobby into a full-time profession based in the cultural and creative hub that is Wakefield.

Chris took a risk during the first national lockdown to pursue his dream and passion to create a life for him and his family and first approached the Council’s Business Support team after struggling in the creative self-employed minefield looking for start-up advice, training and mentoring to help him launch his Photography business into the marketplace.

The AD: VENTURE Business Support Team were there to lend a helping hand and help Chris kickstart his business journey which began with the team going through Chris’s processes and tools with a fine-tooth comb, highlighting areas of improvement and areas that Chris was thriving in and supporting him in re-thinking his brand identity which has been imperative in making the brand what it is today.

Chris commented “The expert personal mentoring was a big game changer for me in launching Chris Whittam Photography which instilled the confidence in myself to build the business that I desired”.

“The support from the AD: VENTURE Team at Wakefield has really helped me establish myself as a brand and has supported me to grow. Without their help my start-up journey would have been a struggle both financially and time-consuming”.

Chris prides himself on bringing moments, products, events, and brands to life with his passion and enthusiasm ensuring there is never a dull moment and no two shoots are ever the same. He has a fantastic portfolio of clients to boast about having worked with leading companies and household names in the Wakefield district such as Waterton’s Gin Reserve, Avant Homes, The New Inn Walton, Rockpool Tour catering and more!

Chris is a proud “Waltoner” and loves to give back to the local community and has recently been working with “Waterton’s Wall Project” a non-profit organisation who have a vision of giving Charles Waterton’s Wall in the world’s first ever nature reserve the attention and care that it deserves, which has even captured interest from Sir David Attenborough!

Chris commented “Today I am living that life and am extremely grateful for all the support I’ve received, and I have never looked back”.

Chris is fiercely proud of the Wakefield district and is proud to call it home with its great connections to the more major bustling cites but without the city binds! For him, Wakefield is the place for businesses with its fantastic motorway and railway links that enable Businesses & Professionals like Chris to be in major cities such as Leeds Manchester and more within an hour and a half and not to forget Wakefield’s semi-rural mix that boasts of a busy city centre and neighbouring towns, but also beautiful green spaces like no other.

It’s been a fantastic journey so far for Chris Whittam Photography in Wakefield and beyond and we can’t wait to see him continue to thrive! To be continued…
