Castleford Connections

27 July 2023

Whether you are visiting Castleford for the first time or you’re exploring a new part of the town centre, Wakefield Council wants to make getting around on foot as simple and enjoyable as possible.

Castleford Connections is a project that once complete will improve connections and provide straightforward pedestrian links between the railway and bus stations, town centre, riverside and other locations.

Wakefield Council secured a £23.9m Town Deal from the Government’s Town Fund to deliver a range of projects to transform the town centre, creating an elevated visitor experience for all those who live work or visit here.

By installing new, clearer directional signs, and making improvements to pedestrian routes, exploring the town, and enjoying the many things Castleford has to offer will be easier than ever. Once complete this project will make finding your way around town a breeze.

This is just one of the exciting transformational projects happening in Castleford. The Wakefield Council Masterplan sets out to reimagine Castleford as one of Yorkshire’s premier riverside towns.
