The Health Hub – Delivering on our promise to prioritise ‘Better Health and Lives’

28 June 2023

Regeneration isn’t just about bricks and mortar, it’s about the improving the lives of our residents. Wakefield Council is committed to creating a District where better health and lives, and thriving children and families, are key priorities.

The Council has teamed up with the West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board and NHS Property Services to create a new Health Hub on Welbeck Street. £12.5m is being invested to create a new, larger practice, that once complete will have space for additional GPs and other healthcare services.

With work due to commence later this year, to prevent disruption to existing services, existing health centre continues to operate while the new Health Hub is built. Once the new building is complete and open to the public, the old health centre will be demolished to create additional parking space, making the new Welbeck Street Health Hub even more accessible.

The Health Hub will provide a range of medical services covering one off problems to longer term illnesses.
